Posthuman

Once again, a topic that has been present in public consciousness for decades, explored in thousands of stories, but is now becoming truly relevant. It's time to reflect deeply on it.

There are several ways for a human to become a more advanced entity than their birth body.

We can distinguish two major categories: physical and cognitive modifications.

More and more people with disabilities receive prosthetics that help them lead a fuller life.

Perhaps we are not far from slowing down, stopping, or even reversing aging.

Modern medicine is developing the 3D printing of human organs.

Today, genetic interventions are used to eliminate congenital diseases.

Through cloning, we could create a new body for ourselves, and with the help of genetics or artificial enhancements, we could even improve it.

Neuralink will soon enable direct communication between the brain and a computer.

These are just a few examples, and we haven't even leaped too far into the future. These technologies already exist. They are not yet widespread, but with a little luck, anyone reading these lines could become part of them.

We stand before a very exciting future, with all its benefits and dangers.

What will become of us if we can practically live forever?

Do you even want to live forever?

What would prevent direct brain interfaces from controlling people's consciousness?

Does it matter whether we are controlled through a brain interface or as has been done for a long time—through printed media or a screen?

What will it be like to merge into a single collective consciousness in virtuality?

What will it be like to enhance our brains with artificial intelligence?

It is crucial to find some kind of consensus on these questions. I believe that whatever can happen will happen. Whatever can be invented will be invented. What we can hope for is that this happens in a thoughtful, safe, and regulated way. But of course, it won’t. It never does.

I believe humanity will split into multiple species. This is inevitable, as we will need to adapt differently to different planetary conditions.

Even on Earth, distinct intelligent life forms could emerge. Humanity might diverge based on wealth and access to technology, or some might choose to relocate entirely into a virtual world.

If quantum entanglement works, it could open up new horizons for humanity. This way, we could bypass the speed-of-light limit on information transfer.

Is consciousness more than just information? If it isn’t, then we could instantly transfer our minds into a body on another planet—or into thousands of bodies across multiple planets at once.

I may have gotten ahead of myself here. This paragraph is a bit speculative.

The most likely scenario, however, is that something happens that we cannot even imagine today.
